LANDSCAPES OF NAMIBIA

Namibia - place where scenery plays prime role. Severe, minimal, mesmerizing. This is what we focus on in our expedition through this ancient land.

CONCEPT

In order to get into the spirit of Namibia, there should not be any people around. For this reason, we have chosen the most secluded places. Here, the fauna is undoubtedly noteworthy and we have decided to leave the classic safari behind and focus on the close and safe contact with wildlife. We will move around the country on a private jet.

PLACES

The ancient Namib Desert; dunes #7 and #38; the Himba tribes; abandoned diamond towns.

ACTIVITIES

Rhino tracking; hot air balloon rides; kayaking with sea lions; climbing the dunes; paragliding.

CONDITIONS

You will need an average physical training and your own insurance covering a minimum of 200,000 USD.

THE TRIP

An absolute African exoticism, a large number of sunny days every year, a very rich flora and fauna, unusual "lunar" landscapes, a wide choice of good quality hotels, lodges and camping-sites, and excellent facilities for outdoor activities.

Namibia has an amazing sky. It is very clean, bright and the Milky Way can be seen so clearly as if it was right in the palm of one’s hand. Some points are very popular in Namibia among the fans of the stars.

THE NAMIB DESERT

The desert is about 55-80 million years old. It is quite possible that it is the oldest desert in the world.

People rarely live here. However, the desert is rich in endemic life. Here you can find plants that are some truly living relics that are over 2 thousand years old.

The desert is famous for its ever-changing sea of sand where dunes are the waves.

If you take the dunes of the Sossusvlei valley, you will be able to see that they do not move. Dune no. 45 is on the 45th kilometer from the gates to the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Its silhouette remains unchanged (by eye) as years pass by.

DIAMOND TOWNS

At the beginning of the 20th century diamond mining was carried out in Kolmanskop, a ghost town. The diamond-field slowly exhausted and the town was ultimately abandoned.

The second “diamond town” is Pomona. It is located in a closed area and is absolutely not spoiled by tourists. The closed area ensures an almost private pastime in the town.

You can spend the night in the former headquarters of the German Nazis who used to keep order in the concentration camp on the territory of Luderitz. The place is very atmospheric but simple.

OVER AN ANCIENT DESERT

A flight in silence allows you to feel the spirit of this ancient desert.

IMMERSION IN THE LIVING WORLD

The Northern part of Namibia is famous for the greatest biodiversity. Various species of antelopes, giraffes, elephants, lions, rare black rhinos, aardwolves, Hartmann's mountain zebras and honey badgers live here.

In the central highest parts of the country you can see antelopes, zebras, hyenas, jackals, rodents and rare insectivores such as aardvarks and golden moles.

In the sands of the Namib Desert, lizards, snakes, small rodents and insects are most numerous. On the coast of the Atlantic Ocean there are many birds, while in the coastal waters there are different types of fish and Cape fur seals.

THE HIMBA PEOPLE

The Himba people are considered to be one of the most beautiful tribes of South Africa. They are nomads and there are only about 50 thousand of them.

They never bathe but they really do not smell bad at all. They are very clean and live up to 80 years. Moreover, they live in a matriarchal community. When women marry a man for the first time, they choose that of the same age, and when he dies, they choose a younger man. They rub themselves with red clay and hold their lower ‘’chakras’’ over the smoke from bonfires.

PARAGLIDING OVER THE DUNES

It is almost always a good weather to fly here. A soft breeze comes as a huge stream to the dunes, raising the paragliders up easily.

Soft sand allows not only the experienced pilots but also the beginners in tandem bundles with an instructor to fly safely.

LODGING

We have chosen some of the most interesting places. Here you will be able to have total privacy and to feel the true spirit of Namibia. By the way, Namibia has a very low population density with Mongolia being the country with the lowest one. And even God told us to be introverts and to be alone for some time.
